AN OLYMPICS for disabled people is coming to Swindon.
The Swindon Games, on Sunday August 31, is an opportunity for disabled people aged 16 plus to experience the thrill of an athletics meeting.
The Games, at the County Ground, are aimed at all people with disabilities.
Events will include shot, javelin, high jump, hammer, long jump, 100 metres, 200 metres and wheelchair slalom.
The day will be split into two sections, with field events starting at 11am and track events in the afternoon.
In true Olympic style, medals will be awarded for first, second and third places, and a trophy will be presented to the competitor judged to best represent the "spirit of the games".
A free lunch and refreshments will be provided for all participants.
The Games are being organised by the Lifestyle Develop-ment Team, which exists to develop fitness and sporting opportunities across the borough.
This year's event is being supported by Swindon-based building society Nationwide.
