Wiltshire failed to stage a comeback against Berkshire in the Minor Counties Championship at Westbury yesterday.

Following their first innings total of 325-5 declared on Sunday, visiting Berkshire finished on 202-8 during yesterday's second innings with Wiltshire's Richard Bates taking six wickets for the loss of 72 runs.

Wiltshire followed their modest 222 all out in the first innings with a disappointing 133 all out to fall 172 runs short of the Berkshire total.

Richard Illingworth top scored in Wiltshire's second innings with 41.

The result sees Wiltshire occupy fourth in the Western Division, while Berkshire only need to defeat Devon in their next match to take the title.
