In response to David Nash's letter about how my holiday could be connected to my views on culture.
Through my work as the Lead Member for Cultural Services and Recreation I have shown that I am an enthusiastic supporter for the long term improvement of the services we as a council offer. Coun Nash is right, we "young turks" did campaign against Labour's adhoc plans for an art gallery in the old railway museum. That is because we understand the long term flaws of such a scheme.
We support plans for a flagship, central development, where we will see a new central library service delivered combined with an art gallery, museum and other front line services.
It is through careful long term planning, and engaging with local residents that we will deliver cultural services that Swindon deserves, neither of which have absolutely anything at all to do with where I choose to go on holiday.
