PURTON is to be taken over by a horde of adult-bearing prams next month, in one of Wiltshire's weirder fundraising events.
A pram race through the village has been organised to raise money for Purton Helping Hand.
Along the route each team will be required to make seven drinking stops, six of them at village pubs.
Each team of three may choose their transport of choice: wheelbarrows are allowed as well as prams. Fancy dress is optional and the winners stand to win £100.
The Purton Pram race, which is in its second year, has been organised by Purton Extreme Sports Team.
Last year's race attracted 14 teams and raised £1,200 for Purton Helping Hand, an organisation that supports elderly, disabled and young people in the village.
This year organisers are hoping more than 20 teams will take part.
They are looking to raise £2,000 to buy a new bouncy castle for Helping Hand.
The race starts from Redhouse playing fields at noon on Sunday, September 14 and will be followed by a barbecue.
Keith Taylor, one of the organisers, said: "Last year we got a great response. Lots of people were out on the streets cheering ."
Entering a team costs £15. For more information contact Mr Taylor on 01793 771481.
