WITH reference to the letter from RW Selwood, Sometimes military action is the only answer.

Once again RW Selwood seems to have problems with pacifism. Both Blair and Bush are liars and took our forces into a situation which could well lead to a mini Vietnam. British and American service personnel are getting killed on trumped up violations of the truth and evil spin, without UN backing.

I still consider them both war criminals who should be tried accordingly. Pacifism looks to the social, political and economical conditions that create war (including arms sales of which the UK is second largest exporter in the world) and tries to resolve conflict without violence and with justice. Our use of scatter bombs (convenient name for land mines) leaving its legacy of killing and maiming for many years to come is a human rights abuse in itself so we have a lot to answer for.

As we see Blair squirming and manipulating "cast iron" facts he had in the past which took us into war, I stand by all I said in my previous letter. The conflict with Iraq has made the world a more insecure place.

It was wrong of us to rebuke the UN and future problems, including Zimbabwe, should be resolved with acceptance of UN resolutions.
