Chippenham's beautiful gardens were brought into the limelight in this year's Chippenham in Bloom competition, organised by the town council.

Nearly 30 entries were received for six classes and the overall winners were Jacqueline and Allan Neale, for their garden at Oak Lodge Guest House.

All the winners will be invited to attend the Civic Sunday Service on September 7 at St Andrew's Church, and the reception to follow, when certificates and prizes will be awarded.

Front Garden: First prize, Mary Lindsey, 35 Esmead; runner-up, Ann Kershaw-Hudd, 17 Willowbank.

Container/box garden: First prize, Mr D Peck, 127 Queens Crescent; runner up, Mr S Tinson, 3 Ludlow Close.

Residential home/sheltered accommodation: First prize, Cocklebury Farmhouse, 79 Malmesbury Road; runner up, Riverhouse, St Mary Street.

Pub/hotel: First prize, Old Road Tavern, Old Road; runner up, Rowden Arms, Bath Road.

Commercial premises: First prize, First Great Western, Cocklebury Road; runner up, Dancers of Chippenham, Crickets Lane Industrial Park.

Last Year's winners: First prize, Oak Lodge Guest House, Bristol Road; runner up, Tom Outen, 26 Marlborough Court.
