A teacher at a Chippenham primary school has won an Earthwatch Environmental Award and the opportunity to join leading scientists on a field research project.
Christine Meakin, a supply teacher for Ivy Lane Primary School, will be joining a project called Mammals of Wytham Woods.
She will work with Earthwatch scientists, monitoring British mammals in the University of Oxford's ancient Wytham Woods.
Ms Meakin will be studying a variety of mammals including badgers, mice, voles, bats and deer over five days from tomorrow.
The data collected will be used to create the Oxfordshire Biodiversity Action Plan and will form part of a nationwide mammal monitoring programme.
Ms Meakin has also been studying for an HND in Countryside Management at Wiltshire College, Lackham.
