Ref.10456FLORENCE Julians celebrated her 100th birthday with a party and a visit from the Mayor of Chippenham Desna Allen at St Clements Court.
Mrs Julians was famous in her 80s for running keep fit classes for the other residents at the sheltered accommodation.
"Florrie still cooks a meal every day," said scheme manager Lorraine Doidge.
"She says that's the secret of her long life a good appetite and a drop of whisky each day for medicinal purposes of course."
All the residents at St Clements Court attended the party last Wednesday, as well as friends from Southampton and Cornwall, and the mayor.
Mrs Julians moved to Chippenham just after the Second World War in 1945, living in Ladds Lane for some time, then a bungalow in Redlands.
She worked at Chuters chemist in Park Lane from 1945 to 1955.
When her husband retired they moved back to Cornwall and lived in St Keren on the Lizard peninsular.
Mrs Julians moved back to Chippenham following the death of her husband and she moved into St Clements Court in 1978, one of the first residents.
She organised keep fit classes in the communal room when she was in her 80s, and she was filmed for television running the class for residents.
Mrs Julians had a close friend Reg Bubb, and they spent their days together. The pair got a taxi into town every week to collect their pensions, until Mr Bubb's death in 2000.
