SWINDON Town could be heading for a magical five-figure County Ground crowd for Saturday's opening Nationwide Division 2 encounter against Sheffield Wednesday.
Early indications suggest that Saturday's attendance may well break the 10,000 barrier, and ticket office spokesman Brian Powell said: "The demand hasn't stopped all week.
"Sheffield Wednesday have sold their allocation of just under 3,500 and I think we could be on course for the 10,000 attendance we are aiming for."
Chief executive Mark Devlin said:"The County Ground has only seen five-figure crowds for cup games against Premier League clubs in recent seasons, so it would be nice to hit the 10,000-mark in the league."
Andy King, meanwhile, has not ruled out unveiling another new striker ahead of Saturday's opening game.
While Tommy Mooney looks set to return and play some part against Sheffield Wednesday after his foot injury, the burly forward may not be risked from the start.
Fellow summer signing Jon Stevenson seems the obvious replacement, but King is still toying with the idea of a long-term loanee.
But the Town boss admits finding the right man is hard work. Premier clubs expect their young stars to feature prominently when farmed out for long spells, while seasoned stars prove more difficult to lure.
King said: "The problem is when you take a long-term loan for a year the club expect them to play that's the first thing they ask you."
King admits he is relying on Mooney passing a fitness test to make the dilemma academic.
