YOUNG mother Amanda Freegard has received a six month Community Rehabilitation Order following an ongoing dispute in which she threatened to kill her husband.
Freegard, 24, who lives with her husband and three children in Bences Lane, Corsham, pleaded guilty to the charge of threat to kill at Chippenham Magistrates Court last Thursday.
The court heard that the dispute began on May 27 this year when the couple began arguing at home.
Freegard became very aggressive and starting smashing up the house and shouting abuse before leaving the house, to return later that day.
The following day she made a call to her husband on her mobile phone and made threats to kill him.
In her defence, solicitor Matthew Drew said her husband had wanted to withdraw the complaint after the incident. He said: "She is adamant that she would not have carried out the threat."
In mitigation, Mr Drew explained that Mrs Freegard's aggressive behaviour was a product of a very unhappy childhood and that she was still taking anti-depressant medication.
Mr Drew also said she suffered abuse from her husband.
"She experiences violence at his hands. She feels trapped, exploited and emotionally abused by her husband," he said. Mr Drew argued that Mrs Freegard should not be given a heavy sentence because spending six nights in custody and being separated from her children was punishment enough.
