TEENAGERS in Lacock will soon have a multi-use games area now North Wiltshire District Council has agreed to make a £10,000 grant.

Lacock parish councillor Dave Wootten, said: 'Lacock is spread over a large area with communities in the historic centre, Bewley Lane and Crescent, three quarters of a mile away, Corsham Road three quarters of a mile away, and smaller settlements in Notton and Bowden Hill.

"Currently there is little for teenagers to do in the village but with this facility there will be a focus for them. It will be used for netball, five-a-side football and for basketball as well as for tennis."

The facility will also be used by the village school, which lacks adequate sports facilities, to help prepare juniors for team sporting activities when they move on to secondary schools.

Helen O'Neill, 14, who attends Corsham School and attended the district council meeting when the decision was made said: "This is really good news for us, we will be able to play sports that we can't play now."
