Ref.10474CARETAKER Brenda Kembrey, who has spent the last 34 years keeping Crudwell School spick and span, retired on her 65th birthday.
To mark the occasion all the children sang Happy Birthday during their assembly.
Mrs Kembrey has also supervised the children at dinnertime for 18 years.
On her leaving day she sat down and enjoyed lunch with them all.
Over the years children at the school came to know her well.
Mrs Kembrey said: "Most of the children have been well behaved, and some haven't.
"My own children went to the school and that is how I came to get the job.
"They were really stuck for a cleaner and I volunteered.
"I did originally have two or three people helping me but they left and I have been doing it on my own."
Mrs Kembrey said her final day had been very special.
"I love the children and will miss them all," she said.
"On my leaving day I sat down with the children and ate with them."
Mrs Kembrey has worked with seven headteachers at the school including the present headteacher Lisa Tudor.
Mrs Kembrey was presented with a Port Merion clock and a vase by the school."
Mrs Kembrey will still be keeping in touch with her old workplace.
She has agreed to continue working until a new caretaker has been appointed.
