NESTON Recycling Group is delighted to have received a £1,500 grant from the district council to fund its village green day.
The group has already obtained funding for free distribution of compost bins to households in the village through the National Lottery funded Millennium Awards. It has also set up a website.
Group founder Andy Collett said: "We want to make it easy for people in the community to leave the next generation a positive legacy rather than major environmental problems needing solutions."
Catherine Tuffrey, a member of the group, said: "This is good news for Neston as the money will allow us to fund our Green Village Day in September.
"This will involve various attractions to entertain and inform visitors about environmental issues."
Already booked to attend are Warm Hearted Homes, Waste Warrior, Art Sparks, a Wildlife Gardens officer and a shredder for use by the community for shredding green waste such as hedge clippings.
"We are really looking forward to this now we have the money to do it," said Mrs Tuffrey.
North Wiltshire district councillor Dick Tonge, who supports the group, hailed the grant.
He said: "It is really good that individuals are supported in their voluntary activities by grants such as the one awarded. I really hope that other communities are able to follow Neston's example."
