LOCAL charity Wiltshire Access Consultancy has moved to Pewsey.

The charity, which had been run from the home of Devizes members Barbara and Ron Williams, is now located in the offices of Voluntary Action Kennet at 12 River Street, Pewsey.

The new chairman is Reverend Helen Begley, a church minister in the Codford area. She is also the Salisbury Diocesan chaplain to deaf people.

Mrs Begley, a mother of three, was a founder member of Wiltshire Access Consultancy, which carries out audits on buildings to make them accessible to people with disabilities.

Mrs Begley said: "I get to see a lot of very beautiful but not necessarily very accessible buildings.

"One of Wiltshire Access Consultancy's greatest strengths is the way that disabled and able bodied people work together on audits. This means alongside the technical knowledge, people see their buildings through the eyes of a disabled person and this changes attitudes as well as buildings."

At the annual general meeting Karen Hellewell was re-elected honorary secretary and Dennis Lloyd as treasurer. Mrs Williams continues until November as audit and training officer.

Access to the new offices is via Phoenix Square and its telephone number is (01672) 569340.
