TV producer's wife Rosetta Gutteridge, of Market Lavington, near Devizes, escaped a driving ban after admitting speeding.

Gutteridge, who recently married Tom Gutteridge the creator of the television series Robot Wars was caught driving her Mercedes at 73mph in a 40mph zone on the A344 at Stonehenge Monument on May 17.

She pleaded guilty by post but was ordered to appear at Kennet Magistrates Court in Devizes on Tuesday as her excessive speed could result in a driving ban.

Gutteridge, 45, told the court she was speeding because she had a young dog in her car and she was anxious about it.

She told the magistrates she needed her driving licence because her husband was often working away and she needed to be able to visit her elderly and frail father in Birmingham.

She said: "I'm a responsible driver. I haven't had anything on my licence since 1984."

The magistrates said her speed was excessive and a lot of walkers use the road to get to Stonehenge.

They fined Gutteridge, whose husband was in the public gallery, £550, ordered her to pay £35 prosecution costs and put six penalty points on her driving licence.
