A HAIRDRESSER is making headway in one of the biggest national hairdressing competitions.

Julian Clark, 28, salon manager at Goldsworthy's in Swindon has been selected as a finalist for the annual British Hairdressing Awards.

Having already won the hotly contested Wales and South West Hairdresser of the Year category in the same competition last year, Julian is thrilled with his latest success.

He said: "I'm really pleased to have made the finals again. This is only the second time I've entered, so it's all pretty amazing."

Julian has been perfecting the art of cutting hair since he left school at 16.

Each entrant worked on four agency models in London and submitted photographs displaying their snipping skills.

Julian said: "My styles were very high street- friendly. I like to keep my work real and current."

Entries were judged by hairdressing gurus, including Andrew Collinge and Trevor Sorbie.

Julian is now working on four different styles to submit for the grand final. The results of this event, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional, will be announced iat the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, London, on November 24.

Julian said: "Of course I don't expect to win again, but if I did that would be just brilliant.''
