STUDENTS from Calne's John Bentley School have created an enormous mural depicting life in Holland as part of an international project aiming to build bridges between schools.
The 15ft by 4ft mural, which is hanging outside the front of the school's art block, is divided into three sections, portraying Dutch suburban, urban and rural life.
Its centrepiece is the suburban section, which consists of a series of bridges painted in the colours of the Dutch flag, red, white and blue.
The mural was an important part of the school's commitment to the Comenius Project, which aims to bridge curriculums in different cultures.
John Bentley School, which is an international college, focused on the art and language side of the project, setting up links with a Dutch school that also designed and painted a mural. The project included an exchange of students and the John Bentley Students also had some Dutch lessons.
The school's media officer, Ben Gumstone, who teaches English, said: "We were quite rushed to get it all done in time."
