Ref. 27733-04BUSINESSMEN and women on the move will now be able to check their emails at a more leisurely pace.
Mackenzies bar in Wood Street, Old Town has installed free wireless internet access for all its customers.
It means that anyone who has a broadband enabled laptop computer can walk into the bar and surf the worldwide web free of charge.
The service is open to anyone but is particularly aimed at members of the business community, who can check their emails while having lunch or a coffee.
The cafe bar is now open from 9.30am every morning serving a range of breakfasts from eggs benedict to a full English breakfast.
Manager Paul Alexander said: "In the past customers have said it would be a good idea for us to have a couple of internet enabled computers, telling us they would then be able to stay all afternoon instead of just popping in for a coffee then having to go back to the office.
"This is one of the ideas at the forefront of the educational and hotel industries, many hotels are now saying there should be wireless internet access throughout.
"To give customers what they want we have to continuously develop and take advantage of the technology that's out there. I'm sure they would rather do their work here over a good coffee than in an office."
