Ref. 25192-03Motorcyclists have been warned to be careful on the roads during the winter period.
The number of two-wheeled motor vehicles on Swindon's roads has increased, according to the Council's road safety team.
And with the clocks turned back and the days shorter and darker, there is also a higher risk of injury to those on motorbikes, scooters and mopeds.
The safety team has published some tips for drivers of both two and four wheeled motor vehicles in an attempt to keep casualty numbers down this winter.
The guide also advises motorcyclists to look out for cyclists and pedestrians.
And rugby fans who might be tempted to drink in pubs open during early morning world cup matches are reminded that police can and do breathalyse throughout the day.
Margaret Tester, Road Safety Manager for the Council said this winter would be the first in which motorcyclist were able to ride in bus lanes in Swindon,"Motorcyclists need to continue taking care in the bus lanes as they have done throughout the year".
