DEVIZES had a poor build up to this game with the captain and three other players arriving just 15 minutes before kick off after getting lost.
The first 15 minutes of the game showed this with Devizes making many mistakes and not showing any rhythm.
The game was stalemate for this time with neither team breaking through some good defending by both sides. Sean O'Sullivan broke the deadlock with a well executed drop goal.
The reds immediately responded with attacking play and it was only because of one of the defensive line out jumping of Alchin that prevented them scoring a try.
But the pressure was too great and Devizes conceded a penalty dually converted. Some good handling from Reds again led to them attacking Devizes goal line with Devizes conceding a line out the Reds worked a good blind side move to go over for an un converted try.
Again the Reds attacked and Devizes conceded another penalty on half time to leave the score 11-3.
After some stern talking at half time the Devizes side created ten minutes of good attacking rugby which eventually resulted in Casselden going over for a well deserved try 11-8.
The winning score was a piece of individual brilliance with Manu taking a blind move with a chip over the top and a chase to the line. Apart from five minutes of the rest of the half it was all spent in the Reds half however Devizes were unable to take any more points however there were certainly chances.
This was a good result for the team however it shows the importance of preparation for the game and also that the team needs to become more ruthless in converting pressure in to points.
