A NEW youth shelter in Highworth has been such a success that more could be installed.
When the £4,500 shelter was installed in May, the town council promised to monitor its success at regular six-monthly intervals.
Councillors were concerned that the structure, on the lower recreation ground at the Elms, might attract vandals and underage drinkers.
They also planned to move it if neighbours complained about the noise.
But mayor Ken Poulton has been impressed with the responsible attitude of youths who meet there.
He said: "We are very pleased that it has not caused any problems.
"There was always the option to move it if residents were unhappy. But we only had a couple of complaints.
"What we wanted to do was to stop youngsters from congregating in unsuitable places, like outside pubs.
"In some cases this has happened, in others it hasn't."
