I wish to thank the Gazette and many others for the growing cross party and public campaign to persuade Wiltshire County Council to at least consider some improved traffic management along the A4 between Chippenham and Calne.
No doubt one objection will be the lack of cash.
Well, some cash could be saved by abandoning the silly proposal to pedestrianise the top of Monkton Hill in Chippenham. This will come before committee on December 17.
We need a sharp intake of common sense at County Hall and at the district council where the council leader seems to be seeking to railroad her own views over Goldiggers through council.
Days before the executive committee is due to consider this issue she has ruled out seven bids including one from the Baptist Church. These have been trashed as "not credible."
She ought to remember that the same slur was thrown at Pizzaz Leisure when it bid three years ago.
Instead, Pizzaz initiated the now hugely popular Fizz Bar in Chippenham.
It was her predecessor, David Packham who described Chippenham as a joke.
These are the two who have said that there is no car parking problem in Chippenham.
Conservative county and Lib-Dem district councils should listen to the voters.
We do want improvements along the A4 and Webbington Road, Pewsham.
We do not wish to block up Monkton Hill or put any housing on the Goldiggers site. Please listen.
