Controversial plans to build a Friesian bull unit at Leigh have been approved by North Wiltshire District Council's development control committee despite objections from the parish council and a neighbour.

Plans for the bull unit at Grove Farm in Ashton Road included a retrospective application for a livestock barn, a new application for a second barn and one for a hay barn.

Leigh Parish Council was concerned the land could not support the number of livestock proposed, as well as the increase in traffic.

The neighbour wrote complaining the bull unit would cause smells and noise pollution as well as environmental damage caused by waste and the storage of feed on the land.

Members approved the plans providing a condition was imposed to limit the amount of extra traffic movements .
