A facelift is on the cards for Chippenham's Emery Gate shopping centre. North Wiltshire District Council's development control committee gave the green light on Wednesday to plans for a revamp.
Management company Long Eagle Retail wants to give the shopping centre a new look, with glazing all over the High Street entrance, and sliding automatic doors.
Shop windows to either side of the entrance will be extended to bring them flush with the new glazed entrance.
Alterations to the rear exit will not be so dramatic but planning officers described the overall plans as simple and understated.
They considered the changes would improve and update the appearance of the shopping centre which is part of Chippenham's Conservation Area.
