POLICE have issued an appeal for witnesses after 20-year-old Philip Bradley died from injuries sustained when he was run over by car at Netheravon on Friday.
Police say the local driver, who they have not named, was unable to avoid colliding with Mr Bradley who they were told was lying in the A345 Pewsey to Salisbury road.
It is understood Mr Bradley had been out with friends for the evening and was cycling back to his home in Enford at the time of the tragedy shortly before midnight.
He had been for a drink with friends in the nearby Dog and Gun pub where as a teenager he had worked as a kitchen helper.
A spokesman for the pub said: "He was a local lad who everybody liked and we were all stunned when we were told of what happened.
"He was one of the local boys and everybody thought very highly of him."
Mourners will be returning to the pub after Mr Bradley's funeral on Monday.
Mr Bradley lived with his parents in Coombe Lane in nearby Enford.
He had left the pub to return to his home shortly before Friday night's tragedy occurred.
His bicycle was nearby but the driver of the red Renault, who was heading south towards Salisbury, said Mr Bradley was already lying in the road.
