Ref. 27748-05CHILDREN and staff at Lydiard Millicent Pre-School raised more than £2,700 for a fenced play area.

A series of fundraising events have taken place during the past year, including a bingo evening, a raffle and bottle stalls.

The 18 children, aged between three and four, who attend the pre-school, did not previously have anywhere to play.

Mairin O'Kane, registration secretary at the pre-school, said: "Everything had to go on hold until we had the play area.

"We are delighted with the amount of money we've raised and the children are really enjoying the new play area."

The GWR Community Trust gave a grant of £200 and Lydiard Millicent Primary School donated money.

The reception class at the primary school have also been benefiting from the play area.

Families and friends of the children provided good support for all the fundraising events.

Photos of the children were taken at the pre-school and sold to friends and families to raise funds.

Local fencing company Kudos built the fences for the play area.

The pre-school is now on the lookout for tables and a garden shed.

"We would love to hear from anyone who could help us out with the finishing touches," said Mairin.
