SHOP owners Richard and Sarah Valentine say they will not be deterred following a burglary in which £8,000 worth of children's clothes were stolen.

The couple, who only opened their shop, Tangerine, in Maryport Street, Devizes, seven months ago, say it is business as usual.

They are appealing for people who have information about the burglary or who know where the stolen clothes might be to tell the police.

The burglary occurred overnight on October 29 and 30 and the burglars stole the clothes from the shop floor.

About 200 items of clothing were stolen, most of them boys' clothes.

They included dungarees, T-shirts, trousers, coats, dresses, blouses and jumpers. Another 300 accessories, including socks, gloves, hats and scarves were also taken.

Nearly all the boys' clothes were for four to 12-year-olds although some were for newborn to four years old.

Girls' clothes included about 25 items, in sizes ranging from newborn to five.

The stolen clothes were from the following manufacturers: Catfish, Miranda, Inside Out, Big Fun, Mayoral, Beebo, Rainpets, Sting, Flyers, Bright Bots, Tic Tac Toe, Ergee, Sterntaler, Valti, Total Look and Xisquatro.

The last three labels are imported from Portugal.

Mr Valentine said: "We have got the majority of our stock replaced and will have replaced it all by the end of this week. We don't know if the clothes have been stolen to order.

"We won't let this deter us and security has been significantly increased to prevent anything similar happening again.

"We have built up a good reputation for providing a quality range of continental children's clothes, shoes and accessories.

"We have a lot of repeat customers with some people travelling from as far away as Salisbury and Bath to visit us."
