Pewsey Vale picked up their first league points since late September at the expense of fellow league strugglers Wootton Bassett.

With both teams desperate for points this match was always going to be a hard fought contest.

An under-par performance by the home team and poor finishing from Vale both contributed to a very scrappy match.

Vale's victory was finally sealed five minutes from time when Andy Brein played in striker Barry Flippance to finish well.

But it was all about getting the result as far as Pewsey manager Steve Wootton was concerned.

He said: "A win's a win. It wasn't pretty but to be fair we did have the better chances. I am a lot happier now. It was a game we had to win. Now we are only two points behind them, still with three games in hand."
