BATH flyer Simon Danielli will use the experience of testing himself against two of the most feared wingers in world rugby to try and force his way back into a Bath side taking the English domestic season by storm

Danielli's World Cup adventure ended in Brisbane last Saturday when Scotland were knocked out by hosts and holders Australia at the quarter-final stage.

And the 24-year-old is ready to be thrust straight into another knockout competition, the Powergen Cup, as Bath host last season's beaten finalists Northampton Saints at the Rec on Saturday (2.15pm).

Danielli is likely to be used as a second-half substitute, as Bath chase their first win in the domestic cup since 1996.

And matchups against the Wallabies rugby league convert Lote Tuqiri and Fijian wizard Rupeni Caucaunibuca have left him hungry to show that he has returned from Down Under a better player.

''In the last two weeks, I've played against Tuqiri and Caucau, who is probably the best player I have ever seen on a rugby field, so playing against players like that is obviously going to improve your game,'' said the Edinburgh-born wing.

''It was a fantastic experience. Obviously we were disappointed not to get further, but I think we gave a pretty good account of ourselves in the quarter-final, having not played too well in a couple of the group games.''

Danielli walks back into a side eight points clear at the top of the Premiership and brimming with confidence after eight wins out of nine so far this campaign.

And he admits he must prove himself all over again in a bid to win back a regular place in the line-up.

''It's been great to see that Bath have been winning and the squad has been going so well the pressure is on for the players coming back from the World Cup to add to the squad not hinder it. There is a pressure to perform,'' he insisted.

Ireland's Kevin Maggs has an ankle injury so will not join Danielli as a World Cup returnee. Jamie Williams will get the nod on the wing with loan signing Paul Sampson joining Danielli on the bench.

Robbie Kydd, a try scorer in last weekend's superb 20-14 win over Gloucester at Kingsholm is set to start in place of Springbok international Robbie Fleck, who broke a leg in that game.

The pack is likely to be unchanged.

Northampton have launched an appeal to be heard today over the bans handed to fly-half Shane Drahm and scrum-half Mark Robinson after the win over Gloucester earlier this month, which could yet free the pair to face Bath.
