JEREL IFIL is County Ground-bound for two months but it is far from certain that 'the beast' will be contained in Wiltshire for as long as Andy King would like.

Watford had indicated they were only prepared to let the 21-year-old join Town for a month but with the club facing a free Saturday on December 6, it would limit him to just three or possibly four appearances.

A two-month deal would allow him to figure in the busy festive programme.

King, who watched Ifil in Watford's reserves last night, said: "I think it is massively important to have that second month available.

"You are talking about a significant chunk of the season when there are many points to be played for.

"If a month was all that I could do, I would be faced with having to make changes for just three matches.

"It would be a difficult decision to make, that's for sure."

Confusion over the deal arose when Watford issued a statement on their official website, stating that a one-month deal had been agreed.

This was news to Town officials, who had made clear their intention to try and secure Ifil's services for as long as possible.

Chief executive Mark Devlin appeared to make a breakthrough yesterday but it is still too early to start popping the champagne corks.

He said: "The rules state that if Watford had agreed to loan Jerel to us for the remainder of the season, they would be unable to recall him. They clearly didn't want that to be the case.

"As things stand, an agreement has been reached for two months, although Watford have the right to recall him at the end of that first month."

The other potential problem, one which faces the club whenever they attempt to bring in a new player, is that of seeking and securing Football League approval.

With Rory Fallon having already signed this week, there are no guarantees that the deal to bring Ifil back to the County Ground will automatically be 'blessed'.

As for players already on the books, there is good news regarding two injury concerns.

Scans for both Stefani Miglioranzi (ankle) and Adi Viveash (knee) have revealed no permanent damage.

Miglioranzi is expected to travel to Oldham although fluid on Viveash's knee means he has been told to rest for a fortnight.

As for the rest of his squad, King is hoping a day off today will prove beneficial.

King said: "Matty Heywood has the flu while it will probably be another late decision on Tommy Mooney, who didn't train on Wednesday.

"One big plus for me was to see the 'old' Sam Parkin back in training.

"He looked fully wound up and that delights me."

King's men will prepare for their clash at Oldham on Saturday by travelling north tomorrow to make use of Manchester United's training ground, The Cliff.

Young central defender Leigh Mills has been selected for the England Under 16 side to face Scotland at Hampden Park on November 28.

Mills skippered his country and also scored in a 4-2 win over Wales at Gillingham last month.
