It's now 8.30 on Bonfire Night evening. I live on the edge of Calne and we have suffered a continuous barrage of bangs caused by fireworks for the last two hours.
I am not exaggerating when I say the bangs can be heard every few seconds. No doubt they will continue late into the evening.
Of course it's not only this evening that we've had these bangs; they've been heard every evening for the last few weeks.
My dog has spent each evening absolutely terrified of these bangs. She is an outgoing dog and not easily frightened but will not leave my side at this time and is obviously anxious.
I wonder how many of the people out enjoying the fireworks think foxhunting is cruel yet do not spare a thought for the dogs and other animals suffering at this time of year?
