ADIE Mings admitted on Wednesday night that if results go his way over the next couple of weeks he would be interested in being the next Chippenham Town manager.
The 33-year-old striker has the backing of all the players to take the job full time and chairman Malcolm Lyus has said the board could be willing to give Mings a chance.
The former Bath City striker said: "At the moment my priority has to be stabilising Chippenham Town. I have been put in temporary charge and all I am looking to do is getting some stability back into the club and some points on the board.
"But I do want to be a football manager and if results go our way and the lads and the board want me then I would take it on, but that is a long way off.
"It is the board's job to employ a manager and I am not going to worry myself about it at the moment."
Mings put in an impressive performance in Wednesday night's 4-0 victory over Supermarine and even if he does become the next manager he will not hang up his boots.
He said: "If I become the manager I will need a very good assistant alongside me. I still hope to be playing so I would need someone that I know very well to help me.
"I would need to sit down with the board and think hard about who could do that for me.
"The lads have responded brilliantly for me in the last couple of games and would be a great bunch to manage for anybody."
Mings was more than satisfied with the 4-0 Wiltshire Premier Shield semi-final win over Supermarine on Wednesday.
He said: "All I asked the lads was to go out there and give me a good performance and a good result and that is what they did.
"The lads started doing stuff out there that they are capable of but don't normally do.
"I want them to go out and express themselves and do the things they did to get to this level. We don't want them worrying about mistakes and then panicking.
"Football is all about confidence and if we can get some of that then we stand every chance of climbing up the league."
Chippenham entertain Stafford Rangers tomorrow and know they will have to do better than their 2-0 defeat earlier in the season if they are to get off the bottom of the Dr Martens Premier League.
Mings said: "Stafford are a very good team with powerful strikers but we have got to take tonight's performance into Saturday. They are better opposition than Supermarine but we need to be positive and do what we did tonight."
