Ref. 27562AN 11-year-old girl has made a big splash winning an award for charity work after her mother died of cancer.
Becky Burchell, of Hazlewood Road, Melksham, won a Warburton's Rising Star award after raising £1,350 for Macmillan Cancer Relief in just one year.
The George Ward schoolgirl has swam 300 lengths of her local pool, held wear what you want days and packed bags at Sainsbury's supermarket.
Her mother, Sarah Burchell, died from cancer in August 2002, aged 34.
Becky said: "I started fundraising when my mum died and I was so surprised to get this award.
"A special thanks should go to the Melksham Guides, my tap dancing club, Sainsbury's and Melksham Blue Pool for all their help too."
Sheila Bailey, fundraising manager for MacMillan Cancer relief, who nominated Becky for the award, said: "It is an incredible amount of money for someone so young to raise on their own initiative."
