RE: "Released after half jail term" (Evening Advertiser, November 6)
I hope the person who took the decision to release Simon Mutimer is also going to take the responsibility if he reoffends.
The judge says he is a high risk. He should not have been released until the end of his sentence, and even then there should be a thorough system in place to ensure people like him are fit to be allowed back into the community, not just let go.
When will the justice system start protecting our children instead of the animals who commit these crimes?
There is something seriously wrong with people who commit these offences in the first place, so I am certain they don't get cured in nine months.
The police cannot watch him 24 hours a day, seven days a week. He will see his probation officer once a week.
Do the people he now lives next door to know who he is and what he has done? I bet not.
We need to get our priorities right our children need protecting.
These early releases have to stop. These people don't get long enough sentences for the terrible offences they commit in the first place.
