A NAKED woman parading through the streets of Westbury is set to draw the crowds and raise hundreds of pounds for charity.

Fundraisers are planning to parade Lady Godiva in Westbury High Street as the centrepiece of the town's Children in Need efforts.

The stunt involves a volunteer riding white horse Win-ston on Friday afternoon but after seven months of searching organisers have yet to find anyone who will bare all.

Town crier Sean Price said: "People of Westbury, hear my call in the High Street on November 21 2003 we are wanting people of all shapes sizes and persuasion to step forward and ride Winston the white horse as Lady Godiva."

Despite a fully booked day of fun events police are warning the naked stunt must fall in the boundaries of the law or could offend.

Sergeant Jim Stannard of Westbury Police, said: "We are keen to support the charity which is a good cause but it must be carried out with at least a modicum of good taste."

Mr Price and staff of the Halifax in High Street are behind the town's Children in Need celebrations.

Julie White, of the Halifax, said: "The Lady Godiva is just an idea we came up with to be a little bit different, we have many plans for an enjoyable day all in aid charity.

"We hope we can find a volunteer to act as Lady Godiva to ride a white horse around Westbury it is just a bit of harmless fun."

The horse will be borrowed from Long River Stables on Bratton Road especially for the event and will be supervised by experienced riders.

Staff from the Halifax will dress as highwaymen and attempt to hold up traffic for donations and town mayor Horace Prickett will take part in a sponsored head and beard shave.

Fundraising will continue at The Ludlow Arms in the evening with bar games.
