I AM deeply sorry young Michael Davies was killed in Hill Street, Trowbridge and would like to add my opinion. As a driver who regularly uses this dangerous road (due to the fact my daughter lives in Kitcheners Court) I feel I have some insight as to what happens trying to negotiate the sharp turning into the court.
There is a private courtyard for residents parking and to access this single width entrance one has to be at least in the centre of the road to do so, making it a hazardous move each time.
I'm sure all the residents with cars have their own way of negotiating it but you cannot be on the correct side of the road to turn into Kitcheners Court.
Anyone following at speed (which is practically every car) has to either brake hard or cut you up on the near side or do both and scream abuse at you at the same time. Anyone who believes this could be a two-way road hasn't a clue as to the reality of the situation and cannot have driven a car in these circumstances. Add also the fact that there is a cyclist lane to cross and of course the pavement which quite often has a pedestrian on it and the whole situation can get quite tricky.
I'm sure the council could add speed ramps and position them exactly where they could do the most damage to the cars of these nuisance people who try to tell them what they want their taxes spent on.

As well as the white lines and cycle lanes being routinely ignored and driven over by the vast majority motorists with impunity, I have noticed that the garage just before the corner often have their cars parked on the roadside in a no parking zone and totally obliterating the cycle lane.
If they must shift cars about, it should be done overnight by arrangement with the police and not break laws, inconvenience cyclists and other road users or jeopardise public safety.
