I WOULD like to draw everyone's attention, especially drivers, to the pedestrian crossing at the top of Seymour Road, Trowbridge.
Last week, when collecting my granddaughter from her nursery school at Margaret Stancombe School, my daughter and I witnessed what could have been a near fatal accident.
At approximately 3.20pm we approached the crossing, a HGV lorry had already stopped to let us cross and my three-year-old granddaughter stepped onto the crossing, only to be just narrowly missed by a man driving from the hospital to Alldays shop direction.
She immediately jumped back onto the pavement and he skidded across the crossing.
However, he did not have the decency to stop and see that we were alright, just kept on driving.
Had it not been for my granddaughter's rather quick reflexes, even though she is only three, the car would have hit her I wonder whether he would have stopped then?
I urge drivers to be extremely cautious when driving along this road, especially first thing in the morning, when children are going to school and again around 3.20pm when they are leaving the school premises. Who knows next time someone might not be so lucky.
