VOLUNTEERS are needed for a Winter Work Day to help clear an overgrown railway path.
Sustrans, the sustainable transport charity, is seeking volunteers to help clear vegetation on the Chiseldon to Marlborough railway path.
This section will form part of the Ancient Stones Cycle Route, a new national cycle network. Once completed it will take in some of the most important historical sites in the south.
The route is due to open in 2005 and will take in some of Wiltshire's most famous sites, including the Saxon town of Cricklade, The Ridgeway and Stone-henge.
The Winter Work Day will take place on Friday, December 5 from 10am to 4pm.
Volunteers will help widen the path, prune the hedgerows and make the route safer.
Anyone interested in taking part must register in advance, either by calling 0117 915 0129 or by e-mailing rangers-south@sustrans.org.uk
