A SERIES of events to protest at American President George W Bush's state visit to England have been organised in Swindon.
Mr Bush arrives in London next Wednesday for a three day trip.
The day Mr Bush arrives, there will be a street theatre event by the war memorial in Regent Circus at noon.
On Thursday, November 20 Swindon Stop the War Coalition are urging people to go to London for a demonstration at 2pm.
In Swindon on the same day at 6pm a statue of George Bush will be toppled in the Town Centre in the covered section of the Parade near Debenhams.
Andy Newman, secretary of the coalition, said: "Many people in Swindon feel it is quite inappropriate for George Bush to be coming to Britain. He is responsible for this terrible war on Iraq and people are still dying.
"He should be tried as a war criminal, not wined and dined with the Queen at Buckingham Palace.
"The protest in London looks like it will be huge, but many people will want to stay in Swindon. There is considerable anger against George Bush, and we want to pull down his statue to show he is not welcome in our country."
