THE Funeral of Swindon councillor Keith Small will be held at St Augustine's Church in Rodbourne on Thursday, at 11.15am.
Mr Small, 60, who represented Western ward for Labour, died on Monday at the Great Western Hospital. He had suffered from a viral infection in the brain.
Born and bred in Rodbourne, Mr Small attended Even Swindon Swindon and Jennings Street School.
He worked as a maintenance fitter at the now decommissioned Princess Margaret Hospital for 32-years before retiring five years ago. He served on Wiltshire County Council, Thamesdown Council and Swindon Council when it became a unitary authority in 1997.
Mr Small held a cabinet position as lead member for transport and the environment a post he held in Labour's shadow cabinet after they lost control of the council in May this year.
Keith's son Kevin, who is leader of Swindon Council's Labour group, said: "He will be very much missed, not just as a dad, but as my best friend."
