AFC Stratton edged closer to the Premier Division leaders following a 1-0 win over Melksham Town Reserves in one of only four games played in the Wiltshire League's top flight.

After a goalless first half, Gareth Davies struck midway through the second half to enable his side to move to within four points of leaders Trowbridge Town.

"We didn't play all that well this week," said Stratton boss Stef Kucynski. "But we managed to win and keep the leaders in our sights."

Aldbourne did well to hold Bradford Town to a 2-2 draw. A goal up at the break following a good strike by Gavin Baron, they lost their way for a spell and the home side took the lead with goals from Mark Barnett and Steve Wickens.

However with just a few minutes remaining Jimmy Wright struck to give the visitors a share of the spoils.

Bottom club Malmesbury Vics picked up a point at Corsham in a 2-2 draw, Darren Andrews and Jamie West scoring for the home side and Pete Brock and Ed Wilkins replying.

Purton Reserves shared a goalless home draw with Westbury United.

In Junior Division One Trowbridge Town ensured a good day for the club by beating Ferndale Rodbourne 5-3.

The Swindon side were trailing 5-0 at one stage but a late rally enabled them to get back in the game with three goals by Terry Bown, Terry Offer and Arran Hellewell.

Earlier Matt Minnus and Adam Glover (two each) and one from Adam Shackel had netted for the Town.

Leaders Calne Town Reserves were pleased to come away from Wootton Bassett with a point in a 1-1 draw.

Simon Green put through his own goal to give Calne the lead, Gary Loveday equalising.

Recovery of the day was at Cricklade, the home side going 2-1 up against visitors Westside 10 minutes into the second half.

The visitors then ran in eight goals to run out 9-2 victors.

Roberts (3), Webb (2), Hewittson, Henry, Hearn and Pickering were the scorers. Dave Devine and Mark Stevens on target for Cricklade.

Blunsdon United were also in a goal hungry mood at Purton, beating the A side 8-0. Marcus Richards blasted four, Justin Pearson and Danny Ward scoring two each.

Third-placed Bromham were held to a goalless draw by visitors AFC Stratton Reserves.

Swindon Asians gained ground on leaders New College in Junior Division 2 after their 2-1 away win over Blunsdon United Reserves, thanks to goals from Ashraf Ali and Jason Edwards, Craig Green replying for the home side.

West Swindon took over third spot following their 5-0 win over QT Swindon, Ryan Wheeler (2), Jason Smith, Dave Pickering and Roy Wheatley on target.

Blyskawica gained a 4-1 away victory over Clarendon and Tidworth Mark French scoring for the home side and Jackson and Kopinski twice each for the visitors.

Trax got back on the winning path beating Minety 3-2, Petrie, Kyle and Simoncesics scoring for Trax and Hammersley twice for Minety.

Westside Reserves gained a welcome 3-2 win over Green Baize thanks to goals from Read, Sangherah and Boxall.

Lower Stratton's game with Chiseldon Castrol Reserves was abandoned after 10 minutes following a serious leg injury to their keeper Russell Tee, who was taken to hospital.

He was found to have broken his shin bone and was released from hospital later in the day.
