THE misleading and inaccurate letter from D Reeve (EA Oct 30) cannot be allowed to pass unchallenged.
Your correspondent fails to answer my question "where were the WC Council building inspectors when their shambolic schools were being erected," which now require £51m in repairs.
The WC Council pension fund shortfall arose as a result of total irresponsibility in accepting flawed government permission to take a three year "pension fund holiday" whilst at the same time funding redundancy payments.
The majority of local authorities chose to ignore this reckless course of action.
Poll tax payers in Swindon were levied some £40 to compensate for non-payers.
A curb on profligate spending by S B Council is required to ensure that increases in council tax will remain at acceptable levels.
