SINGLE parents are invited to attend a free training course to improve their mediation skills.
The Swindon and Wiltshire Community Foundation is funding Community Mediation Swindon to run the course in mid January.
The course is accredited by the Open College Network and aims to build people's confidence by teaching them how to resolve disputes.
If people gain the network accreditation, they become a qualified mediator and can become a volunteer with Com-munity Mediation Swindon.
The course is also designed to improve everyday skills in communication, negotiation and listening.
It takes place one day a week over six consecutive weeks. Teaching will be carried out in a small group with a maximum of 12 people.
An introductory day takes place two weeks before the start to enable people to see whether it is suitable for them.
Lunch and refreshments are provided free of charge. There is help with travel and childcare costs.
