A SWINDON firm has produced an information pack to help bosses convey the right written message to clients.
Vox, which specialises in public relations, is giving away copies of a glossy guide called Words on the Street.
It offers advice on how to spell tricky words as well as clearly setting out the correct use of the apostrophe.
Julie Margerum, a partner in the Milton Road firm, said since it rolled off the press a fortnight ago, she has been inundated with requests for more copies.
She said: "We know from experience that even the most educated people can find certain spellings difficult or find some rules of grammar confusing."
Fellow partner, Graham Carter, a former Evening Advertiser reporter, agreed: "If you're not precise and accurate, you can inadvertently mislead a client or supplier, or even find yourself in legal hot water."
Mr Carter believes office standards are dropping due to the rising popularity of the internet and text messaging.
He said: "They are very useful tools, but when it comes to more formal communication some companies let themselves down badly because of the quality of the literature they produce."
