ID cards? Why Mr Blunkett? You already have me on tap via income tax, national insurance, driving licence, passport, place of employment, bank details, insurance policies, credit cards, savings accounts, mortgage account, trade-union membership et al. The list goes on.

Does anyone really believe that ID cards will solve the government's problems of illegal immigration, fraud, and terrorism?

If British POWs during the Second World War could produce high quality fake ID cards and travel passes with such limited resources available to them in Nazi Germany then god knows what any determined blockhead could achieve in this computer age with financial incentive.

The people you need to keep an eye on, Mr Home Secretary, are the ones who are making an untaxed fortune working outside of the system: illegals, gangsters and conmen.

Naturally they won't pay £40. They don't exist. And if you approached them they are armed and dangerous. So, as usual, you will go for the soft target, like me. Further enslavement of a once proud, free-born people that neither you nor your government are worthy of.

Get real, man, or get out.
