DAVID Keeley, 46, who assaulted his wife, has been ordered to go on a domestic violence programme by magistrates.
Keeley, of Cold Harbour Lane, Marlborough, admitted assaulting his wife, Victoria, at their home on August 6 after they began arguing about his drinking.
Kennet Magistrates Court in Devizes was told Keeley slapped his wife on the face and punched her causing her nose to bleed.
Trevor Line, defending, said Keeley accepted his behaviour was wrong but said things had been getting worse between the couple, culminating in the assault.
"Mr Keeley now accepts his drinking is a problem," he said. "He is back with his wife and is taking steps to address his alcohol problem."
Mr Line said Keeley was also prepared to attend the domestic violence programme.
Magistrates sentenced Keeley to a community rehabilitation order for 18 months with a condition that he takes part in the programme.
