SHREWTON United are through to the second round of the Les Phillips Cup after beating Western League Division One rivals Hallen 5-4 on penalties.
After a barren opening 45 minutes, Hallen struck twice shortly after the break.
Jesse Walters played his part in getting Shrews back into the tie, breaking down the right wing and finding Nick Jones with a neat pass.
Jones netted and 15 minutes later Walters' corner led to Dean Foot bagging an equaliser which took the tie into extra time.
Because of the fading light, both sides agreed to play ten minutes each way, but chances were few and far between and the contest remained deadlocked at 2-2.
Remarkably, after five spot kicks each, the tie was still level at 3-3.
Lee Weekes levelled after Hallen had scored the first of the sudden death penalties. Adam Burwell's crucial save meant that Michael Brownless would send United into the next round if he hit the back of the net with his penalty. He did.
"It really was a good win," said delighted Shrewton boss Stuart Withers.
"We dug deep and showed great courage to come back."
On Saturday, Shrewton return to league action with a trip to Weston St Johns.
