SALISBURY Hockey Club's mens' first team were 5-3 victors against Gosport, vindicating skipper Tim Green's decision to manage without the injured midfielder Dan Dines and throw everything into attacking the opposition's goal.
There were two goals apiece for Dickie Head and Andy Grandfield and one for James Whittle.
Salisbury, who moved up to third in the table, travel to Blandford on Saturday for an 11.30am start at Clayesmore School.
Meanwhile the ladies were denied all three points in a 2-2 draw at Minehead. They were unable to make their superior possession count and conceded a last minute equaliser to cancel out earlier goals by Chris Row-land Jones and Kay Williamson.
On Saturday, they visit Sturminster.
