BOTH local indoor clubs suffered defeats in their latest Wessex League matches.
Despite losing by only 10 shots overall, Westlecot took the honours on only one of the four rinks against East Group League leaders Carterton.
The lone success was recorded by Dave Snell's quartet at home to give Westlecot just two points out of a maximum 16.
Thamesdown fared little better against Oxford City and County, a side who they beat comfortably last season for a 13-3 win to go top of the group table.
But on this occasion the Oasis-based club went down by 11 shots overall and collected only three points out of 16.
The solitary victory came away at Marston Ferry Road where Ray Ford's rink just edged home. While at home despite leading 12-0 at one stage Gary Morphet's rink had to settle for a draw.
The third round matches in the East Region will be held on Sunday November 30 when Thamesdown face Oxford and District while Westlecot meet Fairford.

Thamesdown v Oxford C&C Home: Gary Morphet drew 18-18; Tony Flemington lost 16-26. Away: Ray Ford won 25-23; Malcolm Curtis lost 20-23. Thamesdown lost 79-90 and by 3pts to 13.
l More than 200 bowlers from Wiltshire, along with guests from numerous other counties, attended the annual county dinner and presentation evening at the Assembly Rooms, Melksham on Saturday evening.
It was John Wilks' (Wootton Bassett) final function as President of the Wiltshire Bowls Association.
As well as the county competition trophies, Mr Wilks presented special awards to John Butterworth (Cooper-Avon Tyres), who has relinquished the role of county competitions secretary, Richard Gardiner (Supermarine), who is stepping down as deputy county secretary and Trish Woodland (Highworth) for her six years as county coach.
The Denis Uncles Trophy for outstanding services within the Wiltshire Bowls Association was awarded to Terry Beck (Cooper-Avon Tyres), who was county president back in 1975.
Principal guest speaker was John Tolley, Junior Vice President of the English Bowling Association.
At the conclusion of the evening Tony Watchman (Westinghouse) was installed as Wiltshire President for 2004 with Derek Francis (Devizes) moving up to Senior Vice President and Jack Clay (Warminster) coming in as Junior Vice President.
