THE hunt is on for the businesswoman of the year, and organisers are hoping Swindon's women will be among the contenders.
As well as the prestige that comes with winning the national Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of the Year award, the victor will receive birthday Champagne for the rest of their life.
Previous winners include green guru Anita Roddick, who picked up the prize in 1984, and Daphne Bampton of Swindon-based vehicle body repairs firm Bampton Brothers, who won in 1978.
Award organiser Moira Collins said: "It's important Swindon women apply. Swindon is a growing town and it's full of businesses.
Nominations close on January 31, 2004 The final winner will be announced on April 29, 2004.
Judges will be looking for women who run profitable companies with innovation, charisma, and style.
